Total Timber Tour 2 Blog Day 18
WE DID IT! - TERMINATOR SALVATION
06/22/10 – 20.46 PST / 23/06/10 – 04:46 BSTHi all – you came, you saw, we conquered!
Yes, it’s done. Thanks for all your support and staying with us.
Today we passed two milestones. We’ve finally ridden all wooden coasters in the USA and dipped our feet in the Pacific to complete the coast-to-coast drive!
We started with a long drive along the Mexican Border this morning, ending up at an outlet mall backing onto the border itself for that traditional holiday pastime – the Adidas Outlet Store!
Then a quick hop up the coast to Belmont Park. We were last here 8 years ago and the coaster was poor then. On arrival today, not much looked like it had changed, except the ride quality itself. The coaster now runs smooth and reminded us of the other Giant Dipper on the west coast at Santa Cruz. They still staple you to the chair with the lap restraint but, apart from that, a very nice coaster indeed. We can see this one going up in the Internet polls this year.
Then a relaxing drive north through the L.A rush hour (or should that be 3 hours). Actually, thinking about, substitute “relaxing” for “very scary”!
Our hotel just happens to be across the road from Magic Mountain so we decided to ride Terminator this evening to complete the set. So, after the pre-show, we boarded. The ride is very good indeed, although the pre-show was out of keeping for a wooden coaster ride and the on-board music was not present. But it is a very good ride. We only managed one go before the park closed for the day, but we’ve got a full 10.5 hours there tomorrow.
Until tomorrow...........
P.S. Happy Birthday Michelle for the 23rd.
