Europe 2017

Mirabilandia

Europe 2017 Blog Day 2

Firstly ... Happy ‘Belated’ Birthday to our mate Mark for yesterday (13th) as with all the excitement of arriving here on our 1st day we forgot to include it on yesterday’s blog. Sorry Mark and hope you had a great day!

Well we finally managed to get some sleep last night despite the lack of air-con and awoke this morning for a light hotel breakfast only to find that their fridges also seemed to be out of order, so had warm milk with our cornflakes followed by an even warmer yoghurt ... yum!

We hit the road at 08:30am for an hour long drive to Mirabilandia Park which was an experience in itself, as Italian drivers don’t seem to have any lane discipline or sense of spacial awareness – so full focus and quick reactions are a must for driving over here.

We arrived at the park ½ hour early as the opening hours today were 10am – 6pm, so got in line and soaked up the atmosphere ... and the sun! First impressions of the park were great. The staff were very friendly and the guests all seemed very chilled out. Upon entering the park we were greeted by a dance troupe who were all in costume and dancing to the sound of Coldplay blasting throughout the park – a very warm welcome.

Our first ride of the day was on iSpeed – a LIM launched Intamin coaster, and we loved it. A launch out of the station and over a top-hat element, some very fast in-line twists, and a smooth ride overall. The other large coaster here is Katun – a B&M Inverted coaster which again we loved. Much larger than we expected and was quite an intense ride with some serious G’s pulled. As the heat started to get to us it was time to try out Divertical – a water coaster which was new to us both. Unusually it has a vertical lift that takes the boat to the top of the structure before its release. Another smooth ride and extremely wet – just what the doctor ordered in this humid heat.

We spent the rest of the day riding their other rides & attractions and took a couple of hours break to take some photos, shoot some video, eat & drink. There is plenty to do here and this is a real ‘theme’ park with some great themed areas and rides, friendly & professional staff, a great atmosphere and has a feel-good vibe throughout the park with music playing a plenty. We would definitely come here again.

We stayed at the park until closing before heading back to the hotel which appears to have fixed its Air-Con at last (or could be a change in the weather that has given a false impression of “working”!). As we are writing this blog we have a storm overhead giving us a great light show and should hopefully clear the air ready for tomorrow when we hit the road for Austria.

Bye for now and will catch up with you all soon.
