Europe 2017 Blog Day 1

Well after months of Adrian’s meticulous planning, the day had finally arrived for the start of our first proper road trip in 3 years. Having done many trips to the USA in previous years we thought it was about time to head a little closer to home and tackle some of the European parks.

There are 4 Bungy Jumps that we have wanted to do for some time, so the first step was to plot their locations and fit the rest of the trip around theme parks located within driving distance to them and ended up with a final itinerary covering Italy, Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

This is great for us as every theme park, bungy jump, and alpine toboggan are completely new to us, having only visited Germany once for a day trip. This trip is extra special to us as we celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary (and 20 years together on the same day) whilst over here.

Well we had a fairly early start catching the 09:15am bus to the airport this morning and were first in the queue to check in, giving us plenty of time for a hearty breakfast and to chill out. Our flight took off 20 minutes late at 12:45pm but with only a 1 hour 45 minute journey were soon touching down on the runway at Bergamo airport in Italy ... and boy is it hot here!

We picked our hire car (a rather nice rusty orange coloured Jeep) and were soon on our way to the first of many hotels on the trip, with an obligatory stop to an outlet mall on the way for Adrian to check out the latest Italian designer fashions in the Adidas store – surprised to say he left empty handed!

Arrived at the Hotel at approx. 9pm which is all very nice, albeit basic, but the hotel air-con hasn’t worked all day and they have no fans to put in the rooms – so we are basically sat in what feels like a sauna typing this first blog – and Adrian’s not impressed (although losing more weight as we type!)

Well we’re going to try and get our heads down for some sleep now although will be difficult in this heat, and we are looking forward to our first theme park of the trip tomorrow at Mirabilandia.
